From glamorous parties to cocktails and Christmas Day to New Year’s Eve, there are so many occasions to dress for! Have you given it any thought yet? I have been planning my Christmas Capsule Wardrobe for the last few weeks. I am including pieces I already have in my wardrobe as well as taking advantage of some Black Friday bargains and a few brilliant finds. Here are some of the many outfits I can create from my Christmas capsule wardrobe. I hope it inspires you when you are planning your outfits for the Festive Season.
I have realised that I have a fair bit of black in my Christmas capsule wardrobe, but I have brightened it up with some seasonal pops of colour and I have more trouser options than skirts and dresses. Adjust to suit your colouring and preferences.
The Key Pieces
- Velvet jeans – to dress up with a variety of blouses and down with cosy knits.
- Velvet jacket – goes over dresses and separates
- Blouses and tops in bright colours
- Suede, metallics and velvet accessories
- A touch of shimmer and sparkle
- Statement jewellery
- Faux fur
Smart casual with a sparkly knit and velvet boots. This relaxed but still pulled together outfit is perfect for the days between Christmas and New Year.
With a shimmery top and heels. An easy outfit for relaxed Christmas get togethers.
With metallic accessories and a gold spot blouse. Dressed up for a house party.
With satin trousers, a statement necklace and embellished shoes. A cocktail party look, the feminine version of a Tuxedo.
With a sparkly top, quick and easy but still festive.
Blouses and tops in bright colours
With red, always right at Christmas, but also the colour of this season. The trousers immediately become more dressy with the dramatic blouse.
With drama. Sleeves have been the focal point of an outfit this year.
With dramatic jewellery. Long earrings are very on trend (and these were a bargain!)
Suede, velvet and Metallics
Velvet shoes, the perfect finishing touch.
A shimmering skirt and suede boots. Mix up textures to make the outfit more interesting.
A lace dress with a metallic bag. Metallics make any outfit more festive and dressy.
A touch of shimmer and sparkle
Pretty embellished suede shoes. Flats can be just as glamorous as heels.
A sparkly collar necklace and a coloured camisole draw the eye to the face.
Statement earrings and a dramatic necklace. More is more in the party season.
Worn with a silk blouse and leather leggings, the faux fur is the luxe finishing touch.
Florals, suede, beads and faux fur works when you keep everything neutral except the skirt.
Winter white is even more luxurious with a touch of faux fur.
I have plenty of options to wear over Christmas. As I am not going to any formal balls or Black Tie events, I don’t need a long dress, but if I did all I would need is the dress. I have a good selection of accessories and coverups I could use.
