Buy a pair of transitional ankle boots now and wear them right through Winter too. Ankle boots look just as good in the early days of Autumn with a bare leg and a dress, as they do in the middle of Winter with cosy knits and socks. With so many to choose from though, where do you start? Here is my roundup of the best available now and suggestions for how to wear them.
Transitional Ankle Boots – Classic
A classic ankle boot with a heel is the one you can wear to the office and at the weekend with a pair of trousers. As this style won’t date it’s worth investing in a good pair. If they are suede make sure you spray them with a specialist protector to prevent stains in the wet. If they are light coloured though, they are probably best saved for dry days so take this into account when you buy and are considering cost per wear.
Transitional Ankle Boots – Cowboy
This style is great for wearing with jeans or a maxi dress and biker jacket at the weekend. The Instagram favourite is the Chloe Suzanna (above) They come in a multitude of colours and finishes but at around £800 a pair they need careful consideration! Other designer favourites include Isabel Marant’s Dicker boots, at around half the price of the Chloe boots. I love the Ash version which I have in grey and which they have this season in brown (oh dear!) and at £175 they are much less than the high end version – plus you can get the brown Ash boots with 30 % off with the code PASSITON at the moment!
Transitional Ankle Boots – Kitten Heel
The kitten heeled boot is perfect if you want the elegance of a heel with a skirt or dress but can’t manage a high heel.
Transitional Ankle Boots – Coloured
As someone who loves colour, it’s exciting to see so many coloured boots, with red being the most popular. If you already have the classics and neutral colours, treat yourself to a pair in a favourite colour.
Transitional Ankle Boots – Animal Print
I couldn’t do this roundup without mentioning animal print, as it is everywhere. However, if you want animal print boots buy fast, because as soon as they come in, much like the animal print skirt, they are gone! Wear them with anything and everything. Pattern clash with a print in similar colours. If they are a kitten heel they will add a bit of drama to a plain coloured dress, or chunky or block heels look great with a cropped trouser or jeans.
Transitional Ankle Boots – Embellished
Finally, the embellished boot. Dress up a simple outfit with a pair of jewelled boots, even in the daytime or wear with a dress or evening trousers for dinner and parties (the C word is only a couple of months away after all and they will probably be sold out by then) This pair combine another trend of the season with their pearl detailing.
Will you be adding any of these boots to your collection. I am trying hard not to as I do have one or two (maybe 3 or 4) pairs of ankle boots. But chances are I will weaken for these 🙂
