I was looking back at the survey that I did at the end of last year and your responses and there was one topic several of you asked for; How to wear pieces multiple ways. In particular how to transition items in your wardrobe from casual to more dressy or from day to evening. Cost per wear is so important as I have seen so many articles lately about paring back on your wardrobe but getting better value from the items you do own. While you will never see a completely minimalist wardrobe or 10 item wardrobe from me (I don’t believe a capsule wardrobe has to be that small, it all depends on the person, their lifestyle and personality) but I am in favour of buying better pieces you really love and wearing them multiple ways. So with that in mind here are some outfit ideas which I hope will inspire you to wear pieces different ways.
How to Wear Pieces Multiple Ways – Shift Dress
This is an easy way to get more wear out of that shift dress you wear to the office. Make it more casual for the weekend with a wrap layered over and a roll neck layered under and add a pair of snake ankle boots.
Wear it for the evening too, but make it less “work wear” by adding a suede biker jacket and a touch of animal print. If you want to try the colour cash trend out, start small with a necklace.
How to Wear Pieces Multiple Ways – Tailored Trousers
These trousers, although bright could easily toned down for a relaxed office look with a navy blue blazer and accessories. For the weekend add a casual tie waist jacket – very on trend this season, see my last post – and relaxed accessories.
For the evening be bold and wear one of this season’s brights with toning accessories. The animal trend is continuing in to the Spring season, but this top brings it right up to date in one of the season’s Pantone colours.
How to Wear Pieces Multiple Ways – Midi Skirt
Who says neutrals and blush can’t be worn for a winter daytime outfit? I’ve mixed another of the season’s colours; Pressed Rose, with cream for a relaxed but luxurious casual look.
For the evening, swap the boots for heals, add an embellished bag and an unexpected colour combination, mixing the pink with a deep green.
