Are you a dress lover? I am, but they don’t often love me! On a few rare occasions I will find one that works. The issue is that it needs to fit on my bust which is larger than my hips, has to be in a great colour and in a fabric that feels beautiful, but is also practical. Finally I need to be able to wear that one dress multiple ways.
Before I went on my trip to Dallas this year (and actually every year) I started hunting for a dress but with no success. However, on the first day there the Gods were looking down kindly on me because I found the perfect dress. No surprise that it was from Eileen Fisher 🙂 Of the 2 left, one was in my size. So I snapped it up as fast as I could and as soon as I had got myself settled back at home I thought about different ways to style it, which you can see below.
Why is this the perfect dress for me? The fabric is a tencel and viscose crepe with a bit of substance but still soft enough to work on curves, plus it’s practical because it’s washable too. It’s an A-line shape which I wouldn’t normally opt for, but there is something about the way Eileen Fisher dresses are cut that means it skims the body but isn’t shapeless (in fact I have several of her dresses which look nothing on the hanger but look beautiful on) It’s below the knee but has slits so that it moves with you and you can show a bit of leg. It has gathers at the neck which work really well on a full bust, but it also has a V shaped opening, again better on a larger bust. Last but definitely not least, the colour. It’s a stunning sea blue, or light teal and it would still work on any colouring.
When I mentioned on Instagram about my dress fit dilemma I had several DMs saying that they had the same problem. So I have also given you some dresses to suit your body shape below.
One Dress Multiple Ways – Smart
This dress could easily take you to a wedding or occasion as I have worn it here with an Ivory jacket, sandals and bag.
You can buy this dress from Nordstrom here (they ship to the UK) // EF also have it in a beautiful coral here (but annoyingly you will pay about £85 more for it in the UK)// Sandals // Similar Jacket // Alternative bag //
One Dress Multiple Ways – Casual
I’ve dressed it down with a long line linen cardigan, navy wedges and handbag and then added a toning scarf.
One Dress Multiple Ways – Evening
For evening I would wear it alone or as I have here, with a pair of straight leg cream trousers.
