I have given up waiting for Spring to arrive and have started planning outfits and items to update last year’s Spring capsule wardrobe. For this post I have shown you how to wear Spring trends that are more wearable, so that you can build the ones you like into your wardrobe. I have also created the looks at 3 budget levels so you can decide which you want to invest in. Of course you can mix and match across the budgets too.
I am including the following Spring trends:
The Cargo or Utility jacket – it works with jeans, chinos and track pants with loafers, trainers and boots for casual looks, but can be smartened up over a skirt or dress paired with sandals too. It is such a versatile piece. You can ring the changes by belting it too.
White, wide, cropped jeans – It isn’t too early to bring a pair of these into your wardrobe. You can wear them with a jumper while it is still chilly or with a blouse or T-shirt later. They partner Spring’s must have T, the Breton, brilliantly too. Wear them with the next trend item…
Kitten heeled shoes – yes they are back. Hurray, for those of us who struggle with heels, the kitten is back. Cropped trousers and jeans look more modern worn with a small heel than a classic ballet flat. So the kitten will update trousers and jeans from last year instantly.
Gold coin or drop earrings – large earrings aren’t going anywhere yet. For a new look this season choose gold coin style, brushed gold or gold circles.
Ruffled and Asymmetric skirts – pencil skirts were seen frequently on the catwalks, but I am far more excited by the frilled and ruffled versions which every brand seems to have included in their collection. From above the knee all the way down to ankle length and in every colour and print, choose from subtle to extravagant to suit your personality!
White mules – wear with skirts, dresses, wide legged trousers and the cropped white jeans above. Choose a kitten heel for daytime practicality or go for a higher heel if they are for nights out only. A pointed toe will lengthen your legs (and remember the fake tan too)
