How to Wear Linen – 5 Of My Current Favourites

It’s getting to that time of year when I’m reaching for  lighter and more relaxed pieces in my wardrobe and that includes linen. I’m busy planning my holiday capsule wardrobe (video later this week and blog post coming soon) and it includes several pieces of linen. But I don’t just wear it on holiday, I love it at home too. So for this post I am showing you how to wear linen and in particular 5 pieces I have in my wardrobe. A couple from last year and a few newer pieces.

I know that many of us either love or hate linen and yes, it does crease, you have to accept that. But if you choose a washed (softer) linen or a linen blended with jersey or cotton it can reduce the creases. I love it for the laid back feel it has and also because linen to me says sunny days.

In the warmer months a linen knit is beautifully lightweight, but keeps off the chill. A long linen shirt can double as a swimsuit coverup on holiday too. And I can’t imagine my Summer wardrobe without at least one pair of linen trousers!

Here are the 5 linen pieces I am loving right now:

long length cardigan, white shirt, wide leg trousers, stripe dress, gingham jumpsuit

Cardigan (alternative mine is a past season) // White shirt (same brand, newer version) // Jumpsuit // Trousers // Dress //

I love a long length cardigan and a linen version is perfect over dresses and trousers in the Spring and Summer. You will have seen this one on several occasions recently, including with my Teal dress.

It’s not new, in fact this will be its third Summer. Last Summer I paired it with another linen wardrobe basic, a vest top and a pair of Palazzo trousers.

How to Wear Linen – Trousers

I love a pair of white linen trousers in the Summer, but this year, for a change, I’ve invested in this striped pair. These will get so much wear and they will be a staple piece for years to come. I haven’t had a chance to wear them yet, but here are some of the ways I will style them.

You will recognise all of the pieces from my Spring capsule wardrobe.

How to Wear Linen – Stripe Dress

Another new item in my wardrobe is this striped linen dress. This one is coming on holiday with me and was a last minute addition. It’s a simple shift shape that I will wear for days out when I want a no fuss option in the heat, or over a swimsuit to head to the beach. I will also wear it at home on warm days too, with simple slide sandals and a pop of colour in my handbag.

How to Wear Linen – Long Shirt

I wear my long length linen shirts over jeans and leggings, but they double up as a beach cover up too. Both of these are from last Summer. One a premium brand and one from the High Street.

How to Wear Linen – Jumpsuit

This one ticks one of this season’s trend boxes; gingham. Another last minute addition to my wardrobe which will be coming on holiday with me. This jumpsuit is lightweight and incredibly flattering too. Here’s how I will be wearing it on holiday and at home.
