During high Summer months – and especially in the current heatwave – what could be fresher than cool blues? Mixed with white they bring to mind Greek Islands, with their deep blue sea and brilliant white houses. We can all wear blue, it’s just a case picking a shade that flatters you. But True Blue and Navy work on everyone and in the sunshine, even those with Soft colouring can pick some brighter blues. So why not add some Summer blues to your capsule wardrobe?
Where to Buy Summer Blues
I chose some gorgeous Summer blues from the new arrivals at Pure Collection.
Starting with this printed V-neck dress. Made from 100% viscose it drapes beautifully and despite it’s useful 3/4 length sleeve, it is also incredibly light weight and cool to wear. It’s the kind of dress you could wear on holiday, rinse out and wear again, because it would dry quickly. It doesn’t crease too badly either so pack it in your case and simply hang to let any creases drop out.
The dress also has a drawstring waist which you can pull in to show off your curves – or leave a little looser in the heat.
I wore mine with a pair of flat navy espadrilles on one of our hottest days. But it would also make a cool and comfortable work dress with a pair of smarter heels. It’s the kind of dress you will buy and wonder how you managed without it. In fact when I did the photo shoot it was so comfortable it stayed on for the rest of the day. I know it’s one that I will wear again and again over the Summer.
My second blue piece is a relaxed shirt. Again made from Viscose, so with all the same benefits as the dress.
The colour is stunning and works so well with white and a lighter blue, as I’ve worn it here, or with a darker navy.
Wear it tucked into a skirt or jeans (great with white jeans) or wear it as a lightweight jacket as I have done.
