Do you consciously think about creating a Capsule Wardrobe colour palette? Or do you just buy the items and colours you like in a season?
I think there are three criteria that come in to play when you are creating a Capsule wardrobe colour palette.
Creating a Capsule Wardrobe Colour Palette
The first thing you might consider is which colours actually suit you. If you have had a colour analysis you can use the colours you were given as a starting point. This can be affected by the second criteria. And that is whether those colours are actually available in the shops. There are always seasonal trend colours, but if you aren’t too rigid in matching your colour swatches exactly you will always be able to find most colours or shade variations of them.
The third criteria is more personal and it comes down to which colours you actually like. I often see clients restricting themselves to 5 – 10 colours because they might not like some of the colours in their palette. This is a shame, because there are so many colours you can wear. Use your colour swatches as a starting point and then personalise them to suit your taste (and therefore your personality)
In this week’s YouTube video I talk about how to adapt your colours and extend what you have, leaving out those colours that you don’t like. As a quick tip though, if you don’t like a particular shade of a colour see if there are lighter, darker, brighter or softer versions of the colour you do like.
Four Summer Capsule Wardrobe Colour Palettes
Below I have created 4 simple colour schemes you can use a s a starting point. You might prefer one option above the others or you may want to combine a couple of them. You might want to mix the neutrals with the soft pastels or the monochrome with the brights.
