Yes, You Can Wear Shorts! What to choose and Where to Buy

If you watched last week’s video, you may have seen that I have gone a bit shorts mad! Despite my legs being one of my “best bits” I have tended to steer away from shorts. But last year going to the South of France where it was really hot I decided I would try a pair and I loved them. This year having also lost some weight and going on a two week holiday to Italy, I have firmly told myself “Yes, you can wear shorts”!

If you don’t watch my videos, or even if you do, below are the ones I have bought, plus some other suggestions and a few tips on how to wear them, so that if you are in doubt, you can wear shorts too.

Linen shorts

My first pick is a pair of linen shorts. I chose a pair of white shorts and will probably add another colour, possibly navy or this pair from White Stuff in a lovely Brick Red.

These shorts are great, they are a comfortable fit which you can pull in with a drawstring, because linen does tend to loosen during wear, but they aren’t too short and they can be lengthened by unrolling them. They are also a really good price at £20 and come in a good variety of colours and prints.

If you want to show less leg these two pairs finish just above the knee and are a more tailored style.

I also liked these from Boden with a tie waist.

Chino shorts

My next pick are a pair of chino shorts in a gorgeous coral.

Good for those of you who want to show less leg and supremely comfortable because they have plenty of stretch. They also come in a pretty pink (below), stone, navy and white.

Boden also do a great selection of shorts. This pair of chino shorts which come in a 10 colours, sizes from 6-22 and 4 lengths, so you can choose which length you are comfortable with.

Mint Velvet have some good options too, including this pair of neutral shorts with a tie belt detail.

Denim shorts

For my third choice of shorts I went for a denim pair. Rather than blue denim though, I bought a pair that would work with my holiday capsule colour scheme.

These turned out to be a little shorter than I expected, but again they have plenty of stretch and are incredibly comfortable so I decided to keep them. They have a little bit of distressing on them – but no holes – and zip detailing on the pockets which you probably wouldn’t see on me as I prefer to wear a top loose rather than tucked. They also come in white.

Boden also do denim shorts in 4 colours and again in their 4 leg lengths.

Tips for wearing shorts

Personally I prefer to wear shorts with a longer length top untucked. It helps to cover a tummy if you have one and makes me feel less exposed. I also use a fake tan, which is great for covering any blemishes too. My secret weapon though, is a product from This Works.

The Perfect Leg Skin Miracle, smoothes out the skin, adds a touch of colour and a beautiful gleam. Definitely one to pack in your holiday beauty bag, or to use at home whenever your legs are on view.

I hope I have encouraged you to consider a pair of shorts, I am so glad I did.
