What is the must have dress of the season? You probably already know – because they are everywhere – that this season the dress you need to have in your wardrobe is a Shirt dress. There are 3 pieces of good news about this. 1) There is one to suit all figure shapes, 2) They come at all budget levels and 3) It’s one item, shoes and bag and you are done. Below I have shown 3 ways to wear a shirt dress. For casual, work and an occasion. Plus I have chosen dresses at all budget levels for you. But before that let’s talk about what to choose.
Which Shirt Dress to Choose for Your Shape
For a column shape, choose a straight dress with a little waist emphasis to give the illusion of a waist. Choose a crisp cotton, denim or linen and look for stripes and geometric prints.
For those who are a Pear or Hourglass shape, choose a waisted A line style. For an Hourglass leave some of the top buttons open to accommodate your curves.
For Apple shapes, choose a dress with out a fixed waist line and remove the belt if it has one.
How to Wear A Shirt Dress 3 Ways
Palm prints are another seasonal trend. So for this casual look, on a High Street budget, I have chosen a neutral print with tan accessories. Add a hat and espadrilles for sunny days and the must have string bag.
For the office, on a designer budget, I have mixed fresh yellow and white. A perfect choice to stay looking cool no matter how much the temperature rises outside or in the office.
For an occasion look on a premium High Street budget, I have chosen a striking black and pink combination. Choosing accessories in neutral colours means you can wear them again. If black isn’t for you choose navy, cream, silver grey or stone.
One final piece of goodness, is that there are plenty of dresses with sleeves for the summer. So if you like to keep your arms covered there will be one for you.
