With Spring in the air, you may be thinking about a new style or colour for your hair; I have shortened mine and topped up my colour for the new season and it feels ready for the Spring. You might also need to give it some TLC after months of cold weather. So this week we have rounded up some Spring hair essentials.
Spring Hair Essentials – Tools
Starting with tools for styling, we are huge fans of GHD. They have definitely cornered the market on straightening and curling. They aren’ the cheapest brand on the market but my GHD straighteners must be at least 12 years old and are still going strong, think of them like clothes, in cost per use. Depending on the finish you want we’ve picked 3 tools for you. Top are the curling irons, middle straighteners (also really good for creating soft waves – top tip start a couple of inches away from the head and leave out an inch or so of the ends, then when you release the wave, pull gently on it) and on the bottom a wand, which is what I use to create my curls.
Our hairdresser highly recommends the Parlux hair dryer and we can see why! Not only is it light it is also very powerful but without blowing your hair all over the place. This makes drying quicker and less damaging too. It’s easy to control and has 4 settings, so it is suitable for all hair types. Plus when it is the dryer most widely used by professionals, that was recommendation enough for us to try it and fall in love with it!
Spring Hair Essentials – Products
T o give your hair a treat we recommend the Damage Remedy collection from Aveda. We love Aveda because all of their products contain only the most organic ingredients. They believe what you put on your body should be as healthy and natural as what you put in it. The Restructuring Shampoo, Conditioner and Intensive treatment helps hair weakened by chemical processes, heat styling and environmental exposure.
I was offered Olaplex in my hair salon after colouring, but you can now buy it to use at home too. It’s a deep treatment that stays in the hair, here’s what they say about it. “The advanced formula utilises a Bond Multiplying System; which seeks to reconnect broken disulphide sulphur bonds in hair, effectively resetting the hair from within to allow enhanced regrowth, structure and integrity. Suitable for all hair types, it prolongs colour vitality and vibrancy while strengthening the core follicle for a smoother, supple finish.” Definitely worth a try as it leaves your hair incredibly soft and much easier to comb out when it’s wet.
Finally, while the weather is damp this root lifting hairspray, created by biotech scientists and beauty experts, will help keep you hair looking good all day. It’s a lightweight spray that creates lift and height at the roots to help fine, flat hair to look and feel thicker. One to use before you head out the door in the morning.
Here’s to fabulous looking hair!
