It’s January and this weekend is set to be pretty grim weather wise, so it wouldn’t be surprising if all you want to do is hunker down at home in cosy knits, warm socks and a blanket – gosh that sounds tempting! It also wouldn’t be a surprise if your wardrobe has descended into darkness too. Has too much black, or other dark colours crept in over winter? Have you opened your wardrobe doors and thought “where’s the colour?” It is easy to stick to dark colours when the weather is bad but in January you need a bit of a pick me up and colour is one of the easiest ways to do it.
Even if you do know which are your best colours, there is still a chance that you find a couple and tend to only buy those without exploring some of the other colours in your palette. It may be that you just haven’t found those colours in the shops but it also could be a case of being a bit blinkered. So here are some suggestions for colours you could try as accents and some neutrals you probably already have that you can combine them with.
Light – Mix peach with taupe. You can also wear the blue in the soft colouring picture and the sea green in the cool picture.
Deep – Mix emerald with navy. You can also wear the red in the bright picture.
Warm – Mix yellow with taupe. You can also wear the peach in the light picture.
Cool – Mix sea green with grey. You can also wear the blue in the soft picture.
Bright – Mix red with grey. You can also wear the emerald in the deep picture.
Soft – mix sky blue with taupe. You could also wear the sea green in the cool picture and the peach in the light picture.
If you still want to understand more about which are your best colours, how to mix and wear them and the theory behind wearing colours then I can finally announce that my first online course is just around the corner. I know some of you have been champing at the bit and one of my new year’s resolutions was to start implementing some of the plans I have had for some time. If you want to be among the first to know when the new course is released (sign up to the Friday Bulletin) and you will be top of the list. We are also planning an exciting event so stay tuned…
