Capsule Wardrobe Basics – Chinos

Last week I created an ebook of 10 essentials for your capsule wardrobe (if you would like a copy just join the Style Club where it is just one of the ebooks available in the membership site) One of those essentials is a pair of smart/casual trousers that can be dressed up or down. That option could be a pair of capri pants, wide leg trousers or a pair of versatile chinos. So this week I thought I would show you just how versatile a pair of chinos can be.

I’ve chosen a pair in a classic biscuit shade but you could also choose navy if that would work better in your capsule wardrobe.

Here are two options for smart casual and casual outfits:

You can’t go wrong with adding wardrobe classics of navy, stripes, loafers and a scarf. I’ve then added this season’s must have bag, the bucket bag. For the second option I’ve created a laid back summer look with a linen shirt and espadrilles. It’s those little extras like the tasseled bag that keep the outfit from being boring.

Here are two options for taking your chinos for an evening out:

Bring them up to date with seasonal trends like the off the shoulder top (for those who can’t go strapless choose a boho style blouse) fringed and block heeled sandals and a dramatic necklace. Or make them more elegant with a stunning pleated top and high heeled sandals.

I hope this has given you some inspiration for how to work your chinos harder in your wardrobe.
