4 Trend Pieces to Add to Your Spring Capsule Wardrobe

If you keep your eye on the fashion news you may have noticed that 4 key items keep turning up. They’ve been popular for the winter season and are staying around for Spring too. The good news is that they work for business and the weekend.

And they work really well together too.

I’m talking about culottes, sleeveless jackets, the mini saddle bag and Ghillie shoes (or tied front shoes)

The great thing about culottes is you can vary your heel height with them without having to tailor the length. They work with both heels and flats.

One word of caution though if you have proportionally shorter legs make sure you keep the colour of your shoes the same as the culottes to avoid horizontally cutting across the leg and making them look shorter.

If you are short in the body, the longer length jacket will work really well to lengthen your top half.

Here are 3 outfits I’ve put to gather at three price brackets:

Designer: Cashmere waistcoat // Red print blouse // Culottes // Bag // Shoes //

Mid Range: Jacket // Blouse // Culottes // Bag // Shoes //

Budget: Jacket // Blouse // Culottes // Bag // Shoes //

If you are apple shaped or have a tummy, leave the shirt or blouse untucked. Otherwise tuck the top and add a belt to show off your waist or choose a jacket that has a belt to cinch you in.

You’ll find these tie shoes everywhere and at all price brackets from £400 odd (by Aquazurra who originally featured this style and has a cult following which means the shoes sell out fast, yes and at £400!) to budget ranges at £30. Similarly with the Chloe bag in the designer outfit. The mini cross body shape is just large enough for the essentials but finishes the look perfectly.

I love this look (and of course the designer one is my favourite, but the budget jacket is gorgeous for the price too) what do you think?

Well done, Maria! The items chosen for the budget design look as fabulous as the (Armani, I am guessing) most expensive ensemble,

You have a great eye for uniqueness.

    A faithful fan,

Thank you Pat, I’m glad you liked it and I will be trying to include more budget friendly items as it is something I do get asked for.

Hi Maria – I really look forward to the Friday bulletins for inspiration but the prices are way out of my league, so it is lovely to see a budget version that I could actually afford. Fantastic! More please!!
