How to Wear the 70s Trend – For Real Women

You may have lived the 70s and feel that you really don’t want to go back there but there might be some elements you would like to explore. I have to admit that I am tempted and in fact I have tried on some flared jeans and loved them because they make your legs look really long, especially if you wear them with wedges. However, my daughter informed me that “no-one wears flared jeans, it’s skinnies or not at all!” I thought it was quite amusing that I was more on trend than her and I guess I will just have to make sure I don’t wear them when I’m with her.

Anyway, you could go full on with suede, fringing, cheesecloth and faded denim but if you just want a nod to the trend here are a few of the key pieces at both designer and High Street prices.

Wear the gypsy top with a flared denim skirt or jean and block heels or wedges, but you could also wear it with your skinny jeans and a pair of slides or flat sandals if you don’t want to take the trend too far. A suede jacket and saddle bag easily fit into a casual capsule wardrobe and both can come out in future seasons so these are elements of the trend worth investment if you choose the High Street for a denim skirt.
