Capsule Wardrobe Essentials for February

Well February has proved to be first cold and now wet. But Spring is surely on the horizon so here are my must haves for February – some practical some with the hope of Spring.

The breton top is a Spring staple and I love this one with it’s own built in statement necklace. A little more expensive than your average Breton but then this one is anything but average.

A raincoat or Trench. But choose wisely because the traditional double breasted trench isn’t for everyone and certainly not those who, like me, are well endowed. I’ve chosen a more feminine shape and short length practical for hopping in and out of the car and it’s a pretty good price too and if black isn’t for you it’s also available in stone, pale pink and baby blue.

Dull weather deserves a little bright spot and I’ve chosen two. A scarf that won’t blow the budget and if you have a little more to spend a gorgeous bright tote.

When it’s chilly layering is key so some great quality layering T-shirts from Uniqlo that are ridiculously good value means you can stock up.

When the weather is dry a pair of sneakers are great for running around in. I didn’t fall for the New Balance trend and never will but I do like a simple pair of Supergas.

Denim is one of the season’s biggest trend (a more detailed post to come soon) so now is the time to invest in new jeans and new shapes. I’m tempted with a straight leg and always want a high waist style so these investment jeans from J Brand are on my wish list.

You may have noticed the striped theme and that’s because Spring is made for stripes! And this spring a navy/white stripe jacket is the must have cover up. I like the slightly boxy shape of this Jigsaw version.

And yet more stripes in a lightweight cashmere jumper in a lovely bright turquoise from Hush.
