Style Dilemma – Christmas “At Home” Event

This week I received the following Style Dilemma from reader Fiona:

“The Christmas season approaches, as ever I am on a quest to loose weight, and have an ‘at home’ afternoon and early evening to host. What to wear, to appear elegant, comfortable and stylish whilst coping with hot flushes?”

A few of my initial thoughts; comfort – nothing too warm; with a little alcohol and if Fiona is preparing food in a hot kitchen she doesn’t want to overheat, something that conceals or draws the eye away from the typical problem areas of bottom or tummy (I don’t know her size so I’m just going for the most common complaints) a bit of sparkle but as it’s at home nothing too over the top, so in each case I’ve chosen a festive pair of shoes.

And here are 3 options I came up with:

1. A sparkly lightweight knit that is a longer length to cover tummy and hips. Add a pair of velvet slim trousers to balance out the looser top and a pair of fabulous shoes.

2. With a higher budget, a beautiful silk blouse with a necklace to draw the eye up to the face, again slim trousers in silver for a nod to the season and stunning embellished shoes.

3. If she prefers a dress this one is loose fitting and very simple with just detail at the neckline so again I’d pick a pair of shoes that get attention.

Style Dilemma, what to wear

I hope that helps Fiona.
