Easy Weekend Casual Style

Over the last few weeks of glorious weather I have fallen into an easy casual style (not just for the weekend but for my work days at my desk too) and it’s all based around a few key pieces; the crop trouser, tunic or kaftan top and a pair of sandals.

What I love about the crop trouser is their versatility when it comes to footwear. They look good with flat thong sandals, gladiators, a smarter block heel and the wedge. And with styles from the crop jean to a smarter capri shape you can wear them for more than just the house and garden. The kaftan or tunic top is a great partner. They cover the tummy and give you a streamlined look.

A couple of pairs of crops in neutral colours in your capsule wardrobe will see you all through the summer season. I’ve been wearing some budget friendly ones from Wallis from several seasons ago, in stone, taupe and white, which because they are cotton have stayed smart. And with a little stretch they are comfortable too.

Here are some neutral options in trousers and jeans:

And here are some styling tips for how to wear your crop trousers:

Kaftan Monsoon, Thong sandals Monsoon, Woven bag Ted Baker. Linen top East, Scarf Jaeger, Bag Ralph Lauren, Sandals Dune.

Laid back with a cotton kaftan and thong sandals. Or a smarter option with the more tailored trouser, a linen colour block top and a classic hobo bag and strappy block heel sandals.

Grey/red top Sandwich, Red bag John Lewis, Red espadrilles Castaner. Boho top East, Bag Coast, Sandals Hobbs.

White jeans with grey and red is a gorgeous combination on a bright summer day. Here worn with wedges. And for the second look an unexpected mixture of smart in the bag and sandals mixed with the Boho Kaftan top.

When it’s hot and you don’t want to think too hard about what to wear I find this an easy combination that still looks good too. What do you think?
