Adding Colour and Pattern to your Core Capsule Wardrobe

How do you make a core capsule wardrobe of neutrals more exciting? By adding colour, pattern or both. We all have basic wardrobe pieces in black or navy (for some that’s pretty much all there is!). If these pieces are timeless classics we can add colours of the season and prints to update them.

I’ve started with a core capsule wardrobe of navy:

Start by adding one colour and some print, in this case I’ve used red. To give yourself more options choose a plain top.

Here are some of the outfits from these 2 mini capsules:

You can extend it further with another colour and prints containing your neutral; navy.

With these pieces added in your neutrals really come to life.

And for the brave mix your yellow and red!

Hopefully this has give you some inspiration to add colour and print to your wardrobe. When you introduce a new colour add at least 2 pieces in that colour and an accessory to give yourself lots of options.
