This season is the season of the skirt. And at last their is something for everyone.
The pencil continues to be a popular choice in tweed, ponti (great stretch fabric for curvier bodies) lace and leather. Talking of which the leather skirt is a runaway success story, with it seems, every high street brand adding one to their collection. The new shape for the season is the full circle skirt which emphasises a small waist. But there also tulip shaped and A-line – kinder to pear shaped ladies – knife pleat and box pleat styles, as I said something for everyone so no excuse not to take the feminine option and show some leg this season.
Here’s my roundup of some of the best on the high street – if you are going for leather though buy no as they are already selling out fast!
If you don’t have the perfect shape for the pencil skirt go for one in a ponti fabric or stretch jersey and slimming side panels like this black and green version from Fenn Wright Manson. Opt for on trend mustard from Hobbs, a zipped back from Gerard Darel, animal print from Fenn Wright Manson, or an evening version in lace from L.K. Bennett or Paisley print again from Fenn Wright Manson.
You can’t have missed the Heritage trend which showcases tweeds, plaids and checks. Shapes are pencil from Fenn Wright Manson, a wrap MSGM, box pleats from Gerard Darel, A-line with inverted pleat from Phase Eight and a sparkle mix mini from Jigsaw.
Fuller skirts come in a shorter skater style which is hard to wear without perfect legs, but these options are great for showing off your waist at a more elegant length. Animal print from Maxmara, a feminine pink and grey print from Reiss, autumnal leaves from L.K. Bennett and a full shape in classic camel from Hobbs.
Finally the leather options – a flattering wrap style from Peridot London, a gorgeous full skirt from Hobbs, a jersey and leather paneled skirt from Ted Baker (also in black), Navy A-line from Jigsaw and a zip detail style from Mint Velvet.
Which shape will you be opting for. I’d love to know if you go for the leather trend and which shape you chose.
