Unless you have been living under a rock you can’t have failed to know that the remake of The Great Gatsby comes to cinemas on May 17th. Our house has been taken over by it for some time as, luckily for her, it’s one of my daughter’s GCSE books. It promises to be a visual feast – watch the trailer below and you will see what I mean. I’m a little torn though as I am a life long Robert Redford fan – Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid being one of my all time favourite films.
For this version I can’t wait to see the costumes. Catherine Martin worked alongside Miuccia Prada and Brooks Brothers to create the Twenties-inspired costumes that the cast wear. Below are to of the original sketches by Miuccia Prada.
The orange organza dress is covered with plastic, scale-like, sequin embroidery. The blue tulle dress is lined in matching silk cady and embellished with Swarovski crystals. I can’t wait to see them on film – I hope that they are done justice.
If you’d like to add some Gatsby style to your wardrobe here are a few suggestions from John Lewis:

If you go to see the film – I’d love to know what you think – will you be following the story or just enjoying the visual treat (and I’m meaning the costumes and jewels but of course there is Leo too!)
