Take 3 – Padded Jackets

What to wear padded coatHeading out this morning after defrosting the car it really hit home that winter is just around the corner. So I’ve been looking for a cosy coat/jacket to add to my core winter wardrobe basics. Recently visiting the Uniqlo store on Regent’s street I was amazed at the almost paper weight of their quilted coats – how fantastic to have a jacket that is filled with down, so lovely and warm, but also incredibly light. They even come with a little drawstring bag so you can take your coat out in your handbag just in case you need it later!

The coats come in a range of styles from hip length – shown left – to thigh length. So how much will you have to fork out for this little wonder? Amazingly the shorter version is £59.90 and the longer one £79.90 and they come in a huge range of colours – the one on the left comes in 17 colours.

If you’ve never looked at Uniqlo I’d recommend you do they have great quality capsule wardrobe basics at brilliant prices.

This inspired me to do a Take 3 post to see what else is on the market and whether spending more gives you more style or whether you are just paying for the label. See what you think.

So for this Take 3 I’ve picked a padded jacket, a pair of red jeans and a black wedge boot. The price shown is the total for the 3 pieces. Would you be happy with the “cash” version at £179 or would you be prepared to spend six times that on the “mortgage” version?
