Winter Trend – Opulance

Being a bit of a magpie and a sucker for something with sparkle the winter opulence trend definitely has me wanting to shop. It’s a mixture of metallics, brocades, embellishment, lace and fur. Just right for the upcoming party season – and a good excuse to sneak a little shimmer or sparkle into your day wear too. On the catwalk it was over the top, all out glamour, but the high street has embraced this trend and you can find plenty of wearable pieces to suit your personal style and your purse.

Here are a few of my favourites:

A Siple velvet tunic dress from Phase Eight just needs a statement necklace and sparkly shoes to be party ready, or for at home entertaining add gold or silver ballet pumps. The modern way to wear a sequin jacket is with jeans and high heels, but if you have a black tie event to go to slip it over a satin evening dress and make an entrance! You’d never be a wallflower in this stunning gold sequin dress from LK Bennett. Wrap up in this sweet little fur jacket from Biba at House of Fraser either over your party dress or with a pair of slim leg trousers and heels. You could even wear it with your jeans and boots for Saturday shopping. A sparkly little top is a must have in your capsule wardrobe. The perfect accompaniment to a pair of velvet trousers, jeans or pencil skirt. Finally a pair of heels with just the tiniest hint of gold piping for day or night from Somerset at John Lewis

And 3 dresses I couldn’t resist:

If the “Little Black Dress” isn’t for you how about one of these gorgeous little numbers?

Lace Sheath Dress left and Pave Beaded dress right, by Adrianna Papell at John Lewis. Jacqaurd leaf dress, centre, by Hoss Intropia also at John Lewis.

Will you be adding some opulence to your wardrobe?
