If you have parties to plan for over the festive season now is the time to start looking for that perfect Christmas outfit. House of Fraser have made it easy for you by opening an online “Party Shop”. I’ve had a quick virtual rummage and come up with a few of my favourite pieces.
From the Christmas Party department
You can’t beat a pit of sparkle, metallics or lace during the Christmas celebrations. The more adornment the dress has though the simpler you should keep the accessories. If you are going for a plainer dress like the Pied A Terre dress top left – which comes in an amazing nine colours – then by all means add glittery shoes and jewellery. The Lace Dickins & Jones dress is asking to be paired with silver sandals and clutch. Dress up a pair of black velvet trousers or even jeans with the Michael Kors sequin top. I love this stunning French Connection rainbow sequin dress and would just add a pair of metallic jewelled ballet pumps and clutch. Finally a little Bronze shoulder bag from Michael Kors goes with anything day or night and keeps hands free for drinks and canapes.
If your invitation says Black Tie this gives you permission to go all out for glamour and the Black Tie Shop has some stunning evening wear to choose from. Here are just a few of my picks of what to wear for Black Tie:
Firstly a glamorous black gown that really shows off your womanly curves, and with 3/4 sleeves if you don’t want to be too bare. Pair with these beautiful crystal drop earrings and sky high strappy sandals in silver by Dune or black by Karen Millen. Don’t spoil your glamorous look by wearing your everyday coat choose a Hollywood style marabou stole or short fur jacket (which looks just as good with your jeans) The final 3 dresses are all about making a grand entrance choose from an Intricate red lace dress or a slinky gold dress with clever draping to conceal any figure flaws – both from Phase 8 or a stunning bead and sequin number by Untold which at £240 is a great price.
Now I just need to find a party to go to in the French Connection dress and then maybe a New Year Ball where I could make an entrance in the Untold sequin gown – although it will probably be a glass of bubbly in front of the fireworks on TV and I might be a little over dressed!. Do you have plans that you could wear one of these pieces to?
There are plenty more ideas in the Christmas collection, but of course if you don’t have the time to hit the shops or search on line why not try the Capsule Wardrobe “find me a dress” service.
Finally sign up to the Friday Bulletin to make sure you don’t miss the Little Black dress edit – coming soon.
