Beauty Roundup

If you are a beauty product junkie like me you will understand the excitement of a new product to add to my already rather substantial collection. Unfortunately there are certain brands that get me again and again and I have to stop and ask myself  “do I really need another Bobbi Brown lipstick (or Chanel nail varnish)?” But as it’s a new season the temptation has reared it’s head – and after all I feel I am providing a service for my readers by trying out these new lines. Of course at this time of year we get a bumper treat because in a few weeks we will have the Christmas collections hitting the shops too.

Anyway – some good news for you, House of Fraser have an offer on at the moment where you can get £10 off their 10 essential products when you spend £50 or more on Beauty and Fragrance. If you use any of these this would be a good time to stock up and the 10 products are:

1. Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation
2. Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream
3. Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara
4. Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector
5. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour® Cream Skin Protectant 50ml
6. Estée Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator 50ml Love this and reviewed it here
7. Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick
8. Dior 5 Couleurs Designer All-in-one artistry Palette
9. Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder
10. Stella McCartney Stella Eau De Parfum Spray 50ml

So on to some new products that I have tried this month.

First up Bobbi Brown and the Pretty Powerful Uber Basics Collection. Bobbi Brown’s philosophy is all about you looking like you but prettier and this collection has the tag line Makeup, simplified. Just what we all need in our constantly busy lives. So I love the idea that the collection contains a set of 4 eyeshadows; bone, cement, taupe and black chocolate that come in matte and sparkle versions. Wear the matte during the day and then press your fingertip over the same colour in the sparkle shade and roll over the lid for a lovely sparkle for night time glamour.

The eye collection is complemented by 4 blushers – use a soft one during the day then add a brighter colour on top for the evening, 4 lip glosses and 4 lipsticks. Wear either the lipstick or the gloss for daytime and combine the two for more depth of colour for the evening. And yes I did need a new lipstick so I tried the Uber Nude which is a perfect polished colour for daytime.

Another favourite brand is Laura Mercier. I already use and love their foundation primer, tinted moisturiser and one of their eye pencils. I have been looking for a new loose illuminating powder to replace the matte one I have been using so decided to try theirs.

I bought the Mineral Illuminating Powder in Starlight which has a gold shimmer to it. If you have a cooler skin tone they also do a pink version called Candlelight. It’s absolutely gorgeous – you only need a little to give a lovely luminous glow which is the finish I prefer to a matte one.

I was also tempted by another of their eye pencils – I already have the black gold which is actually more like a very dark metallic olive and one I use most days. This time I went for brown copper which is as it sounds and I’m sure will be alternated with the black gold.

I’m sure there will be plenty of other new and wonderful products to try in the next few weeks. It’s a great time of year to overhaul your look so why not try some new products and let me know if you find a new product you love.
