Autumn 2012 Trend – Equestrian

Having two riders in the family (although one is currently out injured) we were delighted at the recent success of the British Equestrian teams at the Olympics. So it seems fitting that one of the trends of autumn/winter 2012 is equestrian inspired. It’s a look that requires tailored and nipped in tweed jackets, tight fitting jodhpurs or trousers, white shirts and polished leather riding boots. These pieces are starting to filter on to the high street with riding boots at most price points and saddle bag inspired handbags. As they have done for the past few seasons, Boden have produced a range of British tweed jackets that can be worn for early autumn days with a T-shirt and quilted jackets worn with cable jumpers when the weather turns cooler.

Rather than going all out with jodhpurs, tweed jacket and riding boots, select one or two pieces to update your existing wardrobe. Here’s how to wear this look now and later as the weather cools down:

Chaya Tweed Jacket by L.K. Bennett
The Ponte Jeans by BaukjenEssential white shirt and Ash Spiral boot from Baukjen
Jamilla silk and Cary shoulder bag by L.K. Bennett

British Tweed Blazer and Essential scoop neck T from Boden
Camel Skirt by Hobbs at House of Fraser
Radley Grand Union bag from John Lewis
Frida suede kitten heel shoes from L.K. Bennett

Ribbed merino T and Winter warmer sleevess jacket from Boden
Bag by Radley as above
Justine silk scarf, Sari skinny jodhpur and Sarah Leather riding boots all by L.K. Bennett

Scarf by Mulberry from John Lewis
Cable jumper and Quilted jacket by Boden
Radley Grosvenor bag from John Lewis
Ponte jeans from Baukjen as above
Stanley Riding boot from L.K. Bennett

So many pieces here I would like to see in my wardrobe – the LK Bennett red jacket, all 3 scarves (of course) and a pair of black riding boots, all perfect capsule wardrobe items. Will you be wearing the equestrian look?

Having read all the reviews of the Boden ribbed merino T, I think one of them will have to appear in my wardrobe this winter. My only problem will be chosing which of the fabulous colours. I think I might have to get my Little Sis to help me choose…..
