How to wear La Dolce Vita Italian Siren Look

If you are stuck at home in this miserable British “summer” I hope this article will bring you a little sunshine.

I love Italy and all things Italian – Rome, Armani, Pasta, Pinot Grigio to name a few! So my favourite looks from the shows for Summer 2012 were those from Dolce and Gabbana that I am calling La Dolce Vita. I’m not always a fan, but this season the dresses made me think of a young Sophia Loren, running around in a floral full skirted dress with a nipped in waist, flat pumps and kohled eyes. I love this look as its feminine but with that smouldering latin feel.

Here’s how to wear this Italian siren look and the elements you need:

Skin is glowing with healthy cheeks and sultry eyes. The modern take on the look had neutral lips rather than the deep reds of yesteryear but a fiery red nail (fingers and toes) looks hot. Dresses with hothouse flowers or fresh white work well in the strong Italian sunlight, or capri pants with a bright top, all worn with flat shoes for running up and down steps on the coast in Amalfi.

Makeup – Shimmering Bronzer Blush Duo, Eyeshadow palette and Long lasting gel eyeliner all by Bobbi Brown. Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20, Bronze Radiance. Nail varnish, Dragon by Chanel.

Earrings – drop, hoop or as seen on the catwalk bright stones, flowers or fruit. All earrings above from a selection at Stella & Dot.
