What capsule wardrobe can survive without a range of T-shirts both summer and winter? In neutral colours they are one of the foundations of a workable capsule wardrobe. In brighter splashes of colour they lift your other every day basics and in a variety of fabrics and weights they work hard as layering pieces.
My personal preference for a T-shirt is a body skimming or slightly looser shape to hide those areas that I want to disguise. I hate with a passion a T-shirt that after the first wash has twisted seams and/or shrinks.
You may remember that some time ago I featured the Perfect T-shirt from Isabella Oliver and I am happy to report that despite countless washes they have both kept their shape, size and colour so you won’t be surprised to find them in my pick below.
My tip for buying T-shirts is to spend a little more on quality if you want it to last. If it’s a fashion piece of the season you might not mind if it only lasts for that season.
Here are my top picks of great T-shirts:
The basic fitted T
The ever popular stripe T
The over sized T
All above from a selection at Pure Collection – some of which are on sale.
The knit T
The smart silk T
All from a selection at Pure Collection.
The humble T shirt rally does deserve a place in your capsule wardrobe! Do you have a favourite that you go back to again and again?
