New Colour Collection from Liz Earle

I’m a big fan of Liz Earle products, so I was really excited to hear that they would be releasing a capsule collection of makeup products. I knew the products would be high quality yet natural and wearable in keeping with the award winning skin and hair products Liz Earle already does so well. I was surprised to read that due to the attention to detail these products were four years in the making! There will be more additions to the range later in the year, something to look forward to.

Whilst the colours are sheer and easy to wear they are also blendable and long lasting – perfect for a natural summer makeup look. With ingredients including borage seed oil, avocado, shea butter and natural source vitamin E they not only make you look good but they are treating your skin at the same time.

Liz Earle says their priority is to help women of all ages and stages of life feel confident in achieving naturally beautiful skin, simply and without fuss and we could all do with that. If your makeup style is natural yet sophisticated this range is for you.

I had already bought the Sheer Skin Tint and Liz Earle kindly sent me the Lash Care Mascara BaseĀ  and the Lash Definition Smudgeproof Mascara so I added the Healthy Glow Cream Blush and Sheer Lip Gloss so that I could try out a whole face.

Price wise the products certainly aren’t at the cheap end of the scale, more mid range but you are getting fantastic quality for your money with the benefit of added skin care so in my book they are worth a try and I’m sure you will find a favourite amongst the products to add to your makeup bag. I have and I was pleasantly surprised about which product it was!

Here’s what I tried:

Sheer Skin Tint SPF15 – The equivalent of a tinted moisturiser with natural source vitamin E, this is rich, creamy and easy to blend without being too heavy. It gives a very natural dewy finish and has the benefit of mineral UV protection with an SPF 15, so if you have sensitive skin this is perfect. It now comes in 4 shades which cover a range of skin tones. This is a product I would use when I want a very natural look and definitely one that will go in my holiday makeup bag.

Healthy Glow Cream Blush – regular readers will know that I love cream blush and use one everyday either alone for a sheer look or under a bronzer or powder blush to make it last longer. I went for the Rose 04 shade which is a warm browny pink and goes on beautifully. It’s probably better for darker hair and skin and I would recommend the Nude 03 or Camellia 01 if you are blonde. For a brighter shade go for Coral 05 or Nectar 06.

Lash Care Intensifying Mascara Base – If you are a wash and go kind of girl you probably wouldn’t want to take time for this product which would be a shame. I was intrigued, it goes on white and then dries transparent and you add your mascara once it has dried (only a few seconds) I must say the mascara went on really well and my lashes were beautifully separated – but that could be the mascara – so I will reserve judgement and try with one of my other mascaras to see what the effect is.

Lash Definition Smudgeproof Mascara – This went on really well, I liked the size of the brush – not too fat or too skinny, no flakes, essential when you wear contact lenses and it has been tested in humidity and rain this week with our wonderful British summer! I’ve also had a very long hard work week and it’s stayed put without smudging for a good 14 hours.

Sheer Lip Gloss – I’ve saved my favourite for last! I love the idea of lip gloss and have several as I’m always tempted to one with a bit of sparkle, but I always feel like it makes my lips feel gloopy (is that a word?) and when it wears off I often don’t replace it just sticking to lipstick. However, this is different. It’s more like wearing a lip balm with a luminous finish and doesn’t have that thick sticky feel. And best of all… it’s flavoured with citrus extracts so it smells divine and tastes of pomegranate. Having gone for a very neutral shade Nougat 10 which is a high shine dusky rose and works beautifully with my blusher, I am now tempted to try some other colours. There are 12 to choose from everything from very delicate peach – Water lily 12 and pink – Petal 06, to bright Cherry 01- a clear red and Fuchsia 04. I think my next purchase may well be Huneysuckle 07 which is a pearly pink gold, or Apricot 11 a pale shimmer that would work over other lip colours.

Other products I haven’t tried but certainly will be in the coming months include Perfect Fix Concealer in 6 shades, Light Reflecting Concealer in 4 shades, Natural Finish loose Powder in 3 shades, Health Glow Powder Blush in the same colours as the cream blush, Natural Glow Bronzer, and Eye Pencil.
