Yes I did say UGG. You may only know them from their boots which elicit either love or hate. I have to say that with the winters we have experienced the last few years a pair of UGGs are a necessity for cosy toes, mixed with comfortable leggings and a cashmere jumper for home working. This last week that outfit would have come in quite useful!
The story behind UGGs
The roots of UGG Australia can be traced back to the sandy beaches of Byron Bay, where Australian surfers began wearing sheepskin footwear for warmth between sessions. In 1978, Brian Smith landed in Southern California with a bag of sheepskin boots and hope. He fell in love with the sheepskin experience and was convinced the world would one day share this love. By 2000, a love that began on the beaches had become an icon of casual style. When the New York fashion community notices your brand, the world soon follows. The widespread love for UGG extended to Europe in the mid-2000’s along with the stylish casual movement and demand for premium casual fashion.
The new UGG Collection fuses the timeless craft of Italian shoe making with the reliable magic of sheepskin, bringing the luxurious feel of UGG to high end fashion. Just take a look at some of this high fashion, stunning collection:
The collection prices are what you would expect from a designer shoe range.
If your pocket doesn’t stretch that far there are some equally fabulous styles in the new Spring range including wedges, ballet flats sheepskin lined flip flops (an indulgence I feel I need) and if you can’t get through the summer without a boot fix, some lighter weight summer boots.
The range doesn’t stop at footwear though, there are also some fun fabric bags, including the espadrille bucket bag and the scarf bag and a selection of scarf trimmed hats.
I love the classic suede wedges which never date and the tote bags in either straw for a more laid back look or buttery soft leather, a great capsule wardrobe item that will last for years, in classic creams, black, tan and chocolate – definitely items I will be adding to my wish list.
Finally the more laid back pieces – flip flops, trainers and boots:
If you have UGGs in your winter wardrobe are you tempted to add some of these summer pieces?
