Getting Patriotic – What to Wear; Red, White and Blue

You’d have to have been living under a stone if you haven’t been bombarded with all things red, white and blue in preparation for the Jubilee celebrations and the upcoming Olympics. I am getting swept along in all the excitement – I thinks it’s just what we need in these times of constant doom and gloom. I know many people are complaining about the effects on business over another long weekend, but sometimes you just have to relax, forget all the depressing news and just enjoy something which are so good at in this country – a good old celebration!

So with that in mind some patriotic colours for you to wear either during the jubilee parties or to celebrate our teams at the Olympics. Even without the patriotic link I love this colour combination – it’s so chic and perfect for Spring/Summer. I’ve added in a couple of Union Jack bags which I think are a stylish way to show your support as opposed to all of the tacky pieces filling the super markets!

First up some smart options:

White Linen Cardigan from The White Company £60

Andean Necklace from John Lewis £50
Milly cotton dress from Phase Eight £89
Dune wedges from House of Fraser £75
Cropped linen cardigan from Pure Collection £69

Lola Rose Quartzite necklace from John Lewis £57

Red bag by Sodamix from House of Fraser £30
Red wedges from Boden £89
Cahsmere cardigan from Boden £99
Bouquet dress from Boden £149
Union Jack Clutch by Aspinal from John Lewis 325
Sandals from Hobbs at John Lewis £119.20

And if you are going to the games (I will be at two of the Equestrian events and can’t wait) some more casual looks:

Crop linen cardigan in navy from Pure Collection as above
Stripe top from Phase Eight £35
Ankle zip cropped jeans from Pure Collection £89
Basket by Joules from John Lewis £44.95
Crop linen cardigan in white from Pure Collection as above
Short sleeve Breton top from Boden £22
Red necklace from Phase Eight £20
Red jeans by French Connection at House of Fraser £82
Union Jack bag by Barber at John Lewis £99.95
Sandals by Boden £110
Converse trainers from John Lewis £40

I could see myself in the first casual outfit at the Games, and I absolutely love that red Phase Eight dress, I imagine myself with a basket and sun hat shopping in a French market!

Will you be getting into patriotic colours this summer?

Thanks Fiona – the only trouble is there are now several pieces there that would fill a red, white and blue gap in my wardrobe!

I love the casual outfits, I did buy a red t’shirt yesterday and some floral union jack flip flops!

Well that’s a good start! I’m in blue and white today with a red lipstick. I like the sound of the flip flops.
