New Autumn Makeup, With Ideas to Suit Your Colouring

This week, as well as giving my wardrobe a refresh I have also given my makeup bag one. I love trying out new season makeup and we are so spoilt for choice now, from drug store brands to high end designer collections. I’m a bit of a makeup snob, the packaging and hype always get me. But what can I say, I just enjoy opening a brand new Chanel nail polish more than a Drug Store one. That’s not to say there is anything wrong with less expensive brands, but to me it just feels more of a treat.

The first product I bought was a new eye palette. This one has actually been out for several weeks now and was designed for hot summer nights, but I think the colours are perfect for Autumn. With names like Scorched and Ember the colours range from matte neutrals through to shimmering browns and reds. I think they will be stunning for the Party Season too. So far I have tried second from left “Chaser” all over the lid and “Cayenne” fourth from right in the crease of my eye with just a touch of “Ember” far right as a liner. But I’m looking forward to experimenting more.

However, it is a palette that would work better on those with warm colouring, so in the interests of not leaving anyone out, how about this gorgeous Moondust Palette for those with a cool skin tone? These jewel like metallic shades would be gorgeous on blue or green eyes.

Next on my shopping list was a new lipstick. The perfect companion to the Naked palette is this berry red.

Called “Walk of Shame” I’m not sure this lipstick is that sinful. It’s matte, but unlike some matte lipsticks which can be ageing on a more mature face, it feels more like a balm so it isn’t drying at all. Try “The Queen” for a cool skin tone, or if you aren’t sure what to choose there is a really handy Lipstick Finder here.

Of course a beauty shopping trip wouldn’t be the same without a visit to the Chanel counter to check out the new nail polishes. And what do you know they had just the colour to finish off my Autumnal look!

And I even had fallen leaves in the garden that blended with it beautifully. Again I don’t think this is a new shade this season but “Mythique” is a perfect Autumn colour and one which I think would work for both warm and cool colouring. “Coralium” would look gorgeous with the Moondust eye palette too.

My final purchase was a new powder. I wanted something that wouldn’t be too matte or cakey. This one is a finely milled micro powder for an “airbrush flawless finish” which I think gives a really nice effect. I bought shade 2 Medium. It lasts pretty well and I only needed to touch it up once over a long day.

I’m sure I will be adding to my collection as we get closer to the Party Season, as well as bringing you the best of the Gift Collections.
