Velvet Suit – High End vs High Street

With the party season still 3 months away it’s not too early to buy into the fabric of the season; velvet. Velvet is no longer just reserved for party wear, it’s now acceptable at any time of day. Whether it’s a jacket, bag, boots or dress.

The savvy buy of the season is a velvet suit. You probably won’t wear it together often, but the two pieces will earn their cost per wear in your wardrobe from day into evening. I’ve found one from the High Street – £234 for the two pieces and one designer version, a nice round £2000! Here’s how to wear the pieces alone and together.

Designer – Jacket // Blouse // Trousers // Bag // Boots //

High Street // Jacket // Blouse // Trousers // Bag // Boots //

Wear the two pieces together with a blouse and suede boots. Or for a more dressy evening version add a lace top and sandals.

For a Winter wedding or smart occasion wear the jacket with a floral dress and heeled boots. Dress the jacket down with a pair of jeans, or wear it with tailored trousers.

Designer – Knit // Bag // Shoes //

High Street = Knit // Bag // shoes //

Wear the trousers with a cosy knit and add another seasonal trend of animal print. Swap out the knit and add a sparkly top and heels to a party.

Have I convinced you that you need to add some velvet to your autumn capsule wardrobe? Don’t wait though it’s selling fast!

I have used velvet pieces for years! Work, party or leisure, it goes with everything. I just love how other materials change completely when used together with the smooth and luxurious velvet. Silk, tweed, cashmere, leather, everything glittery and embellished as well as simple t-shirts in cotton silk or linen – they all go with velvet and create different feels. I am very excited that it is so easy to find velvet in the stores this year! Thank you for the inspiration!
