If you are a long time reader you will know that jeans are not my favourite item of clothing. Not because I don’t like the look of them, more that I don’t like the look of me in them! They are one of the hardest items to buy, so when I find a pair that work I am thrilled, because I think there is a place for dark wash jeans in any smart casual capsule wardrobe. The reason being that they are so versatile. A dark wash, or black pair, are the smartest options and that makes them easier to dress up or down.
I personally prefer a mid to high rise, as I know many women over 40 do. So where do you find this wonder pair of jeans? You may remember that earlier in the summer Liz and I did a review of white jeans and one of the brands that came out well was Pure Collection. So for my collaboration with them this month I decided to try their Slim Straight Leg Jeans, which I chose in Indigo (they also come in black, grey, ecru cord, pale grey and white) They also come in 3 lengths and in sizes from 8 – 20. At £90 they aren’t cheap but they are great quality, don’t loose their shape and wash beautifully.
So back to the question of why you need a pair in your wardrobe…
A pair of dark wash jeans can take you from casual with loafers or trainers and a T-shirt or knit, to weekend outings, the office with a blazer or blouse for Dress Down Friday and out in the evening with a pair of heels and a pretty top.
Here are just a few of the ways I’ve worn mine:
Casually with a T-shirt and a fine knit to transition into Autumn.
With ankle boots and featherweight cashmere for cooler days
And out for a Friday night pub meal
Along with a pair of skinny jeans, to tuck in to boots later, these will be a staple in my Autumn/Winter capsule wardrobe. You will be seeing more of them with knits and jackets in the coming weeks.
