5 Autumn Pieces You Can Wear Now

With lots of new goodies in the shops you may be tempted to start creating or adding to your Autumn capsule wardrobe. Before you do, here are 5 items you can buy and wear now that are also key trends for the new season.

Autumn 2017 trends

The Shirt – From silk to cotton, ruffled, tied and wrapped the shirt is huge for the Autumn season. Bear in mind your colouring and shape. If pure white isn’t good on you look for an alternative like this blue striped option. For those of you with curves choose a softer fabric like silk or viscose or something with a little elastane. A wrap style works well on anyone, giving shape to those without a waist and working with your curves if you have them. Wear your shirt with the new wide legged, tailored trousers or with a pair of cropped jeans and loafers to be on trend.

Sleeves – Sleeve details continue into the new season. Whether that be a ruffle on the shoulder like this blouse, ties at the cuff, cut out details or a fluted shape, here is where to show you are in the know. Sleeve details cleverly draw attention away from areas you want to conceal.

Florals – Florals are going nowhere on skirts, tops and dresses and embroidered on accessories, they are big again this season. Choose the scale of the print carefully though, especially if you are petite or slim, look for smaller print that won’t overpower you.

Red – From orange reds through to Burgundy, this season you need red in your wardrobe. If wearing a red top or coat scares you start with a great pair of shoes. (Want to know your best red? Check out our Colour Dossier service)

Animal Print – Now so frequently used in both cooler and warmer months, animal print has almost become a neutral. Add an item of clothing, like this top, or choose a fabulous pair of shoes or a scarf.

I will be writing more about all of the new season trends in the coming weeks.
