Summer in the UK means being prepared for anything! So far this year it has been reasonably good and we’ve had some gorgeous hot weather, but you don’t have to go back many years to a summer of constant rain and floods or one where the temperature didn’t get above lukewarm. Our wardrobes have to be able to cope with both extremes, so layers are always a good option. In fact for 90% of the time we really don’t need very lightweight clothing unless we are holidaying somewhere tropical. But if you have bought lightweight dresses or tops just layer over a summer knit on those cooler days, then at least you get some wear out of them at home.
Just because it’s cool you don’t have to choose a dark knit. In fact a light coloured one will make it feel like the weather is better than it is. I’ve been rotating 3 versatile knits on cooler days.
A white knit is a great piece to include in your summer wardrobe. This year I bought a loose fit sweater to wear over trousers, jeans and dresses.
My second knit was a Cos purchase and an unusual colour choice for me. I’ve spent so long in deeper colours while my hair was dark, but this pretty Sky Blue is in the soft palette so I decided to give it a try and I love it mixed with Chocolate Brown.
My final knit is a lightweight jacket style cardigan which comes in navy or Ivory. I opted for the Ivory because I already have a lot of navy in my wardrobe, but if you want a knit to wear into the beginning of Autumn go for the navy.
I’ve added a few more options for you below, some of which are great sale bargains.
