Over the last few weeks I have been trying a few new beauty products. Starting with some products I picked up a few weeks ago on a visit to Space NK in Windsor. I was lucky enough to visit on a day when a By Terry makeup artist – the lovely Myo – was in the store (such a happy coincidence as it was By Terry products I had specifically gone in there for)
My two main questions were around some red patches on my face and my skin looking dull. I also wanted to try one of their foundations. Myo recommended that I exfoliate regularly either with a Clarisonic or a gentle scrub, or a combination of both. He used the Ven effect Micro Exfoliant and then used an oil. If you are worrying about an oil leaving the skin greasy then you need to try this one – the By Terry Liftessence Oil Elixir, which is a silky dry oil that “focusses the supreme combination of six precious Rose extracts with revitalising, moisturising, nourishing, regenerating and soothing benefits”. A mouthful but it is incredibly lightweight and sinks in without leaving any greasiness. I wanted to wait a few weeks before reporting back on both of these products after I had tried them at home. A month or so later my red patches have disappeared, my skin is glowing (despite the weather) and it looks much brighter. The oil is expensive but you need to use such a tiny amount that this is a product that will last a long time (think of it like cost per wear).
Next I tried the foundation. The one Myo chose for me was the By Terry Light Expert Click Foundation. This is so easy to apply. You literally click the end of the pen and the foundation comes into the brush. You can then tap it onto the skin and blend with your fingers. It has an incredibly smooth velvet feel to it and with the combination of my now exfoliated and prepped with oil skin, looked amazing. I will definitely be trying more By Terry products. They are premium but you do get what you pay for and I think I am at a time in my life when I need to really look after my skin and find products that work for me.
Also recently released and no doubt selling fast is the Chanel Spring collection. I managed to find some of it on a trip to Covent Garden. If you get the opportunity to go, pop into the Chanel makeup store – it’s like a grown up girl’s sweetie shop!
I bought the new Coco Code Blush Harmony which includes a shimmering powder, medium/light bronzer, highlighter and blush all in one palette. As the powder is highly pigmented you hardly need more than a touch of the blusher for a beautiful fresh glow. It’s a great palette to carry around with you for touch up as you have four products in one.
I also tried the new Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayons. There are lots of new liquid lip and long lasting lip products on the market, unfortunately they can be very drying. These little pencils are amazing. it’s like putting on a balm but they stay put. I chose No 2 Rose Violine an almost neutral every day colour and No 4 Rouge Corail a bright pop of Spring coral.
