This weekend is set to be pretty miserable in the UK with temperatures falling again and snow in some places. If you are anything like me though, you are desperate for some new Spring buys. You could just buy a few accessories (and I have some exciting news coming soon about a new venture…) or you could invest in something that you can wear now and later.
Leather and suede has been a huge trend for the winter season and it is set to continue into this coming season too. If you have never worn either – perhaps because you think you are too mature (!) – then I suggest you think again. Suede and leather pieces have come a long way and in some cases can also be worn to the office. A smart leather pencil skirt with heels and a jacket makes a sophisticated work outfit in a less corporate environment. Gone are the days of the stiff crackly leather that those of us with a fuller bust wouldn’t dare put near our top half for fear of looking even bigger. Today’s leathers are far more subtle and in the case of the leather leggings below have stretch too. So here is a challenge for this weekend. Dig out or invest in a piece of leather because not only can you wear it now you can also wear it into the new season too. Here’s how…
How to wear a Suede jacket
Mix with wool trousers and a cosy knit and boots while it is chilly, then add a pretty Spring scarf and a pair of slipper shoes as it gets milder.
How to wear a Leather Skirt
Don’t be afraid to mix leather with suede – mixing up textures is a stylist trick to make an outfit more interesting.
How to wear Leather Leggings
Once you own a pair of leather leggings you will wonder how you managed without them! Wrap up with a chunky knit now then add trainers and a trench in the Spring. Wear a longer length top – they look best with tops that finish under the bottom.
So will you be taking the challenge and wearing leather or suede this weekend or this coming season? Leather leggings are on my shopping list now.
