If you’ve been reading the Friday bulletin, a few weeks ago you would have seen me mention my desire to lose some weight. I know I am not unlike many women who wake up after Christmas and think “enough” this gradual but continuous weight gain must stop. I’ve actually been thinking this for a while but because of some personal health issues I won’t bore you with, exercise has been at a minimum and over the last 3 years this has had an impact on my weight. Writing this blog though has meant that I want to wear the gorgeous outfits I feature – as well as many loved but too small items in my wardrobe – so I decided that I really would do something about it.
My dearly beloved husband – who fondly remembers the 24″ waist he met over 20 years ago – offered to help by promising me a Diane von Furstenberg dress if I reached my desired weight by my birthday (which is a big one – the birthday that is) and on the strict understanding that the dress was NOT my birthday present but something to wear to mark the occasion, whilst opening the equally exciting gift (no pressure dear husband!)
I’m telling you all of this because it’s true that if you commit to something and make it known it makes success more likely. And I am delighted to say that as of this week I have lost a whole stone and am well on my way to getting that dress.
So to fill my mind with positive thoughts whilst beginning the task of putting my Spring/Summer lookbook together I’ve picked a few of my favourite looks from the DVF Spring/Summer 2013 catwalk show.
Whilst I love the vibrant colours and fluid shapes there is probably not much here that I could wear to do the Waitrose shop! These stunning outfits would need a restaurant overlooking the Med at least so below are a couple of more sensible options. Although if I reach the target weight to celebrate my big birthday perhaps I should throw caution to the wind, don one of these outfits and just see what happens – what do you think?
