One of the Autumn 2012 trends I am really excited about is red. I love red – it’s one of those colours that make me feel powerful! It has good and bad associations; red can be energetic and give visual impact but it can also signify aggression. It’s a great colour to wear if you want to be noticed or be in charge. If you are the only woman in the board room a red jacket or dress will give you authority and say “I won’t be messed with”.
There is a red to suit all colouring and despite what many redheads think they too can wear red but it needs to be on the orange end of the scale. For those with cooler colouring go for a more raspberry, burgundy or blue red.
Reds this season go from bright lipstick red through to the burgundy end of the scale. I’ve picked out some pieces in bright ‘look at me’ red. Not for the faint hearted but perfect additions to your capsule wardrobe for brightening those dull autumn and winter days.
Mix with black, navy, camel and winter white (whichever is best for you) or be bold and wear a red dress and shoes. If it’s all a bit to daring for you start gently with red shoes or bag. Go on live dangerously!
